Shroff enters Tamil

After the stupendous success of ‘Chennai – 600028,’ S.P. Charan’s Capital Film Works is a beehive of activity. Post-production of ‘Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puraavum’ is going on and Charan has already announced his next film, ‘Aaranya Kaandam,’ again with a new director — ad filmmaker Thyagarajan Kumararaja. Jackie Shroff will play hero. ‘Aaranya Kaandam’ marks Shroff’s entry into Tamil.

How did the newcomer pull it off? “Director Pushkar – Gayathri, and John put me on to Charan. He listened to my story and in matter of minutes said I was on board,” says an enthusiastic Kumararaja. And Jackie Shroff? “The role required a senior person. I got to meet Shroff through a friend. He liked the story and immediately agreed to be a part of it,” he smiles. The cast includes Ravi Krishna, Sampath and Somasundaram of Kooththu-p-pattarai. “Most probably Yasmin from Mumbai will join the cast.”

‘Chennai- 600028’ celebrates 100 days

The 100th day celebration of ‘Chennai- 600028’ was recently held at the Chennai Trade Centre.

The team could not have asked for more, for they had actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan grace the occasion.

“It is heart warming to see the happy faces of S.P. Balasubra-maniam and Gangai Amaran, whose sons S.P.B. Charan and Venkat Prabhu are rejoicing the film’s victory,” Rajinikanth said. Kamal Haasan said he was happy to see some of his friends like Rajinikanth there on Friendship’s day. “After seeing this film, my interest in cricket has grown.”

The senior actors gave away prizes.
